Sādu NFTs that Keep Trees Alive
Sādu is a mobile app that rewards commitments to an eco-conscious lifestyle with NFTs that keep trees alive. Reducing environmental impact on a personal level can feel insignificant in comparison to climate change. Buying trees can feel like a solution but the benefits are difficult to measure. Plus a lot of research is required in order to find out what happens after the tree is bought. Sādu was created to make it easier to understand the environmental benefits of buying trees and reward anyone who chooses to do so with a digital asset such as an NFT.
The app works by encouraging a sense of personal well-being in relation to a healthy ecosystem. App users start by earning trees to reduce their environmental impact. To earn the maximum number of trees, anyone can subscribe to a Boost. A Boost guarantees a minimum of 10 trees earned per month plus the trees earned by recording fitness or outdoor activities. Additionally, anyone can earn trees for free by starting a Crew and inviting at least three new members to the app.
Every tree earned in the app results in funding for ecosystem restoration projects (ecosystem partners). After earning a specific number of trees, app users are rewarded with NFTs. The NFTs then provide further funding to the ecosystem partners when they are sold. In other words, when the digital asset is purchased on the market a portion of the sale price is sent back to an ecosystem partner.
The first release of Sādu’s eco-conscious NFTs will be open to all and will not require trees to be earned in the app. However, app users will receive early access to the collection. This is one of many releases that will take place in the coming months. The summer collection will contain 250 of 1000 NFTs.
The NFTs are a composition of digital artworks that reflect on the emotional dichotomy between self-preservation, technological advancement and an innate longing to preserve the natural ecosystem. Digital artist Bond Truluv created eight pieces specifically for the collection. Bond’s work is influenced by street art and incorporates elements of layered augmented reality that can be seen when using a mobile app.
Artist Stacie Ant, completes the rest of the collection by pushing the boundaries of artificial intelligence generative design. She describes her style as
character-driven work [that] operates as a critique and rejection of the male gaze, enhanced by a modern culture of digital immersion. [Stacie] harnesses the very digital tools offered in a technologically-dependent world as a means of empowering female identity and sexuality. Often humorous, Ant’s work offers a way of looking at a fast-paced digital realm through a lens of irony and satire.
In addition to the artists and Sādu, every NFT guarantees funding to one of three ecosystem partners, SeaTrees, The Haiti Tree Project and Re-Climate. The funding split to each Partner will be publicly verifiable on a blockchain explorer. The verification is done using a website designed to search all transactions on the blockchain. This means that anyone can look up the amount of funding that has been transferred to each Partner.
Those who would like to gain early access to this first batch can join a whitelist. The steps to access the whitelist are found by downloading Sādu app and joining the Crew “Treesure Hunters.” Given the limited number of assets being released, whitelist membership is a big advantage.
